Tom Thumb: Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Tom Thumb Somewhere Over The RainbowFor some people, arriving at their first Rainbow Gathering is like coming home. Perhaps they have always dreamed of finding a place where they could belong, somewhere they could be themselves as they really are, not how they’ve learned to be. Yet until they first heard about the Rainbow they never dared believe such a place might exist. It sounded too good to be true.

Spirituality surely dies the moment we take ourselves too seriously.

Knygos autorius laikosi skeptiško požiūrio į įvairias dvasines praktikas, sąmokslo teorijas ir juokiasi iš tų, kurie nepripažįsta akivaizdžiai įrodytų mokslinių tiesų (vienas vyrukas Rainbow jo paklausė, ar jis tikintis, kad egzistuoja bakterijos), nors turbūt pusė, jei ne daugiau, Rainbow šeimos narių tam yra pašventę savo gyvenimus, tad natūralu, jog knyga neatspindi visos nuotaikos. Visgi ji man puikiai padėjo susidėlioti galvoje mintis, įspūdžius ir patyrimus, kurie ošė tarsi chaotiškas uraganas pavadinimu et-kaip-ten-nerealiai-gera.

We have such a good time at the Rainbow Gatherings that I ask myself why so many of my good friends around the world are reluctant to come. There‘s so much fun, so much love, so much nature and good music, all for a small donation to the Magic Hat – who wouldn‘t want to be part of that?

Knygą rekomenduočiau skaityti turbūt tik tiems, kas Rainbow jau lankėsi, kaip nuostabų atsiminimų užkūriką, nes priešingu atveju velniai žino kokį vaizdą gali susikurti, kokių lūkesčių prisikurti ir ko tikėtis. O pats kūrinys parašytas gerai, sklandžiai, logiškai ir nuoširdžiai. Patiko.

We‘re not all dreamers in the Rainbow. There are cynics and activists, spiritual warriors and tourists. Some of us sit around the fire playing music all night, never getting to sleep before the dawn; others have already done an hour of yoga before the sun comes up. To walk around the circle is to stroll through the full spectrum of ages, personalities and backgrounds and yet there we are once again, following old Rainbow traditions and having the time of our lives. Our diversity is what gives us our unity.
